Odessa Police Close Investigation into Heart Doctor Shooting

The investigation into the shooting death of an Odessa cardiologist is now closed.

Odessa Police say the gunman, 60 year-old Ayyasamy Thangam, acted alone when she shot and killed Doctor Suresh Gadasalli before turning the gun on himself.

Authorities are still trying to find a motive in the case, but they say no charges will be filed.

The shooting happened at the Healthy Heart Center in Odessa back on June 11, 2015.

Police say Thangam, a patient and business associate of Gadasalli, walked into a room with the Doctor and shot him multiple times. Thangam then closed the door and took his own life.

No one else was injured in the incident.
