Lamesa Police Reporting Counterfeit Cases

LAMESA, TX (KWES) -

Businesses in Lamesa have been getting hit with counterfeit bills.

Lamesa Police report they've received nine cases so far.

They're mainly $20 bills but they have gotten a couple of $50 dollar ones.

The fake money has a water mark on the bill but the bills are smudged at the top and are of poor quality.

Police want to urge people to double check the bill and to invest in a pen that you can mark on a bill to detect counterfeit cash.

Police believe the fake bills are not from Lamesa and that they're being brought in from out of town.
