ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Two men are behind bars on various charges following a traffic stop in Odessa.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, officers saw a black Ford F-150 traveling eastbound on Clements with an expired registration.
According to the report, as officers were attempting to turn their vehicle around to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle sped up and officers saw two people in the vehicle trying to hide something near the center console.
The officers later conducted the traffic stop and identified the driver as Carlos Galindo, 19, and the passenger as Josue Figeroa, 19.
Officials say while they were talking with Galindo, they could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him.
Galindo told officers that he had been playing beer pong.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found an open can of Michelob Ultra with marijuana inside the can and both men were arrested.
Both men were taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
Galindo has been charged with tampering with physical evidence, driving under the influence, driving while license invalid with prior convictions and no proof of insurance with prior convictions.
