ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A shoplifting at the Wal-Mart on JBS Parkway has Odessa Crimestoppers asking for your help. This week we see a man is caught on cam stealing a pair of binoculars, and where he places them... Well let's just say the next person with their hands on them may want to wear gloves. We are all guilty of getting rid of items that we convince ourselves we don't need, leaving them in aisles away from their respective homes. At least our shoplifter here can put the manly stuff in the manly aisles... right?
"The cameras at Wal-Mart actually follow him all over the store and he takes items, hides them behind other items, goes back and picks them up and walks around, gets another item and hides it behind another item," explained Odessa Crimestopper's Susan Rogers. "He then goes back to the first item, gets the item he hid back there and picks up another thing. It's just really random. He's all over the place."
While he thinks he's acting as a smooth criminal, he's no Michael Jackson because the Wal-Mart security cameras catch him in his game of hide-n-seek with the socket wrenches and washer fluid, saving the real prize for "down under."
"Then he gets at one point where he actually walks around a counter and he's got a camouflage pair of Bushnell binoculars and you actually see him take those and poke them down the front of his pants," said Rogers.
Perhaps he didn't get the memo that camo-colored items don't really disguise it's presence. He really doesn't care because after doing a little more moseying around, he makes his exit out the garden center door.
"The security people actually go after him and he takes off running," Rogers explained. "They think he may have left in a white Chevy Cobalt."
