Bond Set for Midland County Murder Suspect

Bond has been set for the second suspect arrested in connection with a Midland County murder.

According to the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Estile Hampton, 22, was extradited to Midland County on June 25 after being caught in Canadauiga, New York, on June 15.

As you may recall, Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter told NewsWest 9, Hampton confessed to his involvement in the death of Amanda Hankins, 26.

Painter said Hankins and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Brandin Conley, got into an argument after she found a text from another woman on his phone.

She allegedly then threw the phone at Conley, packed her clothes into her car and attempted to leave their home on West County Road 53.

Painter said Conley voluntarily confessed to investigators that he shot Hankins in the back of the head with a 9mm pistol.

Hampton, the second person arrested in connection with the murder of Hankins, has been charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, which is a second degree felony, officials said.

Bond for Hampton has been set at $500,000.
