Alpine Police Investigating Possible Fraud Attempt

ALPINE, TX (KWES) -

Alpine Police are investigating after receiving a report of a possible fraud attempt.

According to the Alpine Police Department Facebook Page, a victim reported to police that a person claiming to be in partnership with the Mayor’s Office contacted the victim’s business and stated he needed a conference call with the business manager.

The report also stated that the business manager needed to be in front of a computer with Internet access.

The City of Alpine tells NewsWest 9, that they nor the Mayor’s Office, has any partnership with any business that asks for information from individuals or businesses via phone or online.

Officials say it’s possible that the person was attempting to access the businesses computer and obtain financial information.

Police are asking anyone that may have had a similar incident to contact them at (432) 837-3486.
