Man Facing Federal Drug Charges for Distributing Methamphetamine

HOBBS, NM (KWES) - One man is facing federal drug charges after being caught twice with large amounts of methamphetamine.

The Lea County Drug Task Force tells NewsWest 9, they began an investigation two weeks ago into Arturo Morales Dominguez for distributing large amounts of methamphetamines within Lea County.

Officials say on June 19, they conducted an investigative stop on a vehicle that Dominguez was in. After getting a search warrant, agents recovered approximately 509 grams of methamphetamine.

About a week later, agents learned that Dominguez would again deliver drugs to Lea County.

Agents again were able to find Dominguez at a local motel in Hobbs and agents found 234 grams of methamphetamine.

The drugs have a street value of over $74,000.

Dominugez was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine and booked into the Lea County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.

However, on Tuesday, those charges were dismissed and charges were filed by the U.S. Attorney's Office and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in federal court for distribution of methamphetamine.
