Man Wanted in Connection With Morning Search Caught in Odessa

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The man wanted in connection with a morning search in Odessa has been apprehended.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, Sean Shepperd, 22, was caught on Wednesday evening.

It all started when officers were called out to the Love's Truck Stop at I-20 and West County Road around 12:30 a.m. in reference to an altercation.

Police say a clerk at the store reported that the altercation happened between Shepperd and his girlfriend in the bathroom.

But before police got to the scene, Shepperd fled on foot southbound

Officials say while police were conducting their investigation, Shepperd's girlfriend was sitting inside her 2015 Chevy Cruze and that's when Shepperd came back, got in the car and took off with her.

Odessa Police then followed the Cruze and even contacted the Sheriff's Office for backup. The chase, which was considered a high speed chase, ended when the Cruze crashed near the Meteor Crater. We're told the victim was ok but Shepperd got away.

Detectives then returned to the Love's Truck Stop around 6 or 7 a.m. for further investigation and they had reason to believe that Shepperd came back to the area.

Shepperd was spotted by officials around 8:30 a.m. in the field east of the truck stop.

Currently, a warrant has been issued for Shepperd for the charge of assault causing bodily injury and investigators are working to get to additional warrants for evading in a motor vehicle and evading on foot.
