One Arrested Following Hit and Run Accident in Odessa

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One person is behind bars following a hit and run accident on Saturday night.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the intersection of Tanglewood and Oakwood just after 9 p.m.

An investigation revealed that a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse ran a stop sign and hit a black 2007 Ford F-150.

Officials say the driver of the Eclipse, later identified as Marcos Garcia Gomez, 29, fled the scene and was later found in the 3800 block of Clearmont.

We're told Gomez first gave a false name to police but was later identified as Gomez.

According to the report, officers could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

Gomez was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests.

Gomez is facing charges of false identification-fugitive from justice and driving while intoxicated.

He was also cited for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to display drivers license, ran stop sign and expired license plate.

No injuries were reported in connection with the hit and run accident.
