ODESSA- A domestic disturbance lead to a five-hour standoff this morning in Odessa at the 2100 block of Hancock Street.

Odessa police and the SWAT team were called out.

We're told 23-year-old Trinity Joshua Ornelas was arrested at the home. Odessa police tell us he assaulted his common law wife and her two children.

Ornelas began to stab her in the face and head with a knife and then tried to choke her.

She was able to push him off her and that's when he grabbed her four-month-old baby and four-year-old son, threatening to kill them. He then began to choke out the four year old.

The mother was able to escape safely with her two children through a window.

Once police arrived, Ornelas barricaded himself inside the home and refused to come out.

Police say that's when they resorted to using gas to force Ornelas out of the home.

The four year old and the mother were left minor injuries.

Ornelas is now facing felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of injury to a child.
