Midland Family Goes Great Distance to Find Missing Dog

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - One Midland family is going the extra mile to find their missing Yorkshire Terrier. His name is Jax and his face is on a total of eight billboards across Midland and Odessa.

"He is my baby," said Jax's owner, Farah Matott. "He's not just a dog. Some people think we're doing this for a dog and we're not. We're doing this because he's our baby. He's our child."

Jax has been missing since May 30. Farah and Caleb Matott have gone to great efforts to find their 3 1/2-year-old pup who, they believe, has found himself in the wrong hands.

"We had a pet detective and her dogs come in from Dallas, Texas and they followed his trail and it led them to Butler Park across the street, off of Bluebird and that is where his scent just disappeared," Matott explained.

In addition to the billboards, a Facebook page has been created for Jax. The Matott's will not rest until their child is found.

"We have put posters up around town, flyers everywhere we can think of, the animal shelters and the vets," Matott said. "We're now moving over to the Odessa area and he is on Craigslist."

They are offering a $5,000 reward for Jax. If you have any information, call the Matott's at 432-559-3838 or 432-349-3330.

"He's not a dog to us, he's our child," she said. "What would you do for your child? If your baby was gone, what links would you go to to get him back?"
