ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - The Odessa Council for the Arts and Humanities has teamed up with the Ellen Noel Museum and the U.S. Postal office to restore a historic painting.
The restoration project of the Stampede Mural was announced at the Ellen Noel Museum on Tuesday morning.
It was made by artist Tom Lea in 1940 and had been on display at the Post Office at 2nd and Texas for over 70 years.
The collaboration all started during a conference at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., back in September.
The mural will be replaced with a high quality photograph while artists in Santa Fe work to restore the original work.
