ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The local Disabled Veterans Chapter presented an award to a restaurant in Odessa on Tuesday morning.
The group gave a plaque to the Golden Corral to honor the restaurant for hosting their two week long fundraiser in November.
The Chapter Commander tells NewsWest 9 that he received the award during a department convention in Austin about two weeks ago because the group had the top fundraiser in the state.
He said that the chapter's appreciation doesn't stop with the restaurant.
"We are thanking the entire Permian Basin for this award. They've always been generous to our cause. We always say that, since we're all local volunteers, we have no overhead. Nobody gets paid. We're disabled veterans helping our brothers and sisters in arms. So the entire Permian Basin, thank you very much for this prestigious award, because you were the ones who opened your hearts and gave us this award," said Paul Reed, Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 58.
