MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - It was a good turnout for the Lion's Club annual Juneteenth Parade in Midland on Saturday morning.
The slogan this year was "Be The Change."
Participants of the parade put together creative floats to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States.
Organizers of the event hope the younger generation will learn from the parade.
"We hope that young people, this is for them because they don't know what it's about, and so this is something we try to get over to them so they will know where their parents, grandparents and great grandparents come from. What they had to go through to make sure that they had a life to live," said Tall City Lions Club Member, Robert R. Hanson.
