Caught On Camera: Woman Steals Cell Phone

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

Odessa Crime Stoppers need your help solving a theft. It happened at the Wal-Mart in West Odessa back in April. A man goes through checkout and leaves his phone behind and the customer behind him picks it up, not missing a beat.

"Her groceries are being sacked and she's picking them up," explains Odessa Crime Stopper's Susan Rogers. "You see her see the phone, and as she picks up her groceries, she reaches and picks up the phone and sticks it in her purse and her and her two kids walk out of the store."

How did the $700 phone get there in the first place? A man is enjoying a game on his phone through checkout, sets it down next to the credit card reader to pay and accidentally leaves his phone behind.

"We have talked to the victim and no one has tried to turn the phone in," Rogers said. "No one tried to call him on the phone, or make any calls from the phone so that he can know that someone had his phone. It's just a full blown theft. She knew it wasn't her phone but she picked it up and took it anyway."

The woman is approximately 200 pounds, about 5'6" with brown hair. If you know who this woman is, contact the Odessa Crime Stoppers at 333-TIPS and you may get a cash reward.
