HOBBS, NM (KWES) - One man is behind bars following a shots fired call on Tuesday afternoon.
Hobbs Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the intersection of South Leech and West Marland Boulevard in reference to the shots fired call.
When officers arrived on the scene, a witness told police that he saw people in two separate vehicles, traveling northbound on Leech, exchanging gunfire.
The vehicles later fled the scene but officials say one vehicle was hit by a bullet.
Witnesses gave police a description of the vehicles involved in the shooting.
Officers later located one of the vehicles in the 300 block of North Willow Street.
We're told while police were at the residence, one man, Tomas Vargas, attempted to run from police but was quickly caught.
Vargas has been arrested on an unrelated warrant.
No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
