Second Suspect Found in Murder of Amanda Hankins

We're told Brandon Hampton, 22, had assisted Brandin Conley in moving and burying her body. After hearing the Midland County Sheriff's Office knew another suspect was involved, Conley headed up north.

MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - We're told Brandon Hampton, 22, had assisted Brandin Conley in moving and burying her body. After hearing the Midland County Sheriff's Office knew another suspect was involved, Conley headed up north.

"The Ontario County Sheriff's Office Investigators went out and made contact with a Brandon Hampton at his residence in Canadaigua, New York, and placed him under arrest and transported him to jail," said Midland County Sheriff, Gary Painter.

Last week, Hankin's boyfriend, Brandin Conley, was arrested for her murder. He confessed to shooting her in the back of the head after she spotted some texts from another girl on his phone. Her body was found last Thursday in a shallow grave on West County Road 53 in Midland County. Sheriff Painter said on Tuesday, a warrant was sent to the investigators in New York, prompting a visit to Hampton's residence where he confessed that he assisted Conley in moving and burying the body of Amanda Hankins.

"The information was emailed back to the investigators at the Midland County Sheriff's Office. Based on that confession, they went to Justice of the Peace John Barton, Precinct 4, and asked for and received a warrant for tampering with physical evidence," said Painter.

That is a second degree felony, punishable by two to 20 years in the state penitentiary. Hampton is now waiting his extradition back to Midland County. Sheriff Painter said this is an ongoing investigation but they will work until this case is brought to justice.
