EL PASO, TX (KWES) - A Hobbs mother is recovering after being stabbed more than 20 times and the man police say is responsible is behind bars.
Police found 29-year-old Ana Torres in the 300 block of West Llano early Sunday morning.
The family tells NewsWest 9, she was arguing with her boyfriend, Alonzo Gonzalez, inside her car.
Police say he began to stab her upper body with a pocket knife before running.
Ana's family says Gonzalez never appeared to be violent.
"Everybody would tell her, 'he seems like a very nice guy'. There were arguments of course, but nothing violent, no screaming, no nothing. So we didn't suspect anything at all," said Jazmin Peraza, Ana's younger sister, said.
Meanwhile, Gonzalez was caught on Monday evening.
Authorities got a tip he was at University Medical Center in El Paso under a false name.
El Paso Police found him and discovered it was Gonzalez.
