Hobbs Mother Recovering After Being Stabbed More Than 20 Times

A Hobbs mother of three is recovering after she was stabbed several times.

The man accused of attacking her is her own boyfriend and he's still on the run.

It happened early Sunday morning on the 300 block of West Llano, just one block away from the home of Ana Torres. She went out on Saturday night with her boyfriend, 27-year-old Alonzo Gonzalez.

Now, she is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed over 20 times.

"Everybody would tell her, 'He seems like a very nice guy'. There were arguments of course, but nothing violent, no screaming, no nothing. So we didn't suspect anything at all," said Ana's younger sister, Jazmin Peraza.

Alonzo Gonzalez of Hobbs is wanted for attempted murder.

Around 1 a.m. Sunday, police found 29-year-old Ana Torres with multiple stab wounds to her upper body.

"She said that she was honking and that nobody would come out. Then she put the truck in drive and ended up hitting a vehicle, bumping into it I believe, from what she told me. Then she just got out and went for the front door," said Peraza.

The family says the pair were arguing inside of Ana's car when Alonzo began to stab her with a pocket knife. Police say shortly after, he ran off.

Miraculously, Ana is expected to be OK. Family members are watching her three daughters in the meantime.

"I can't believe it, but she is talking, she can tell me what happened in a lot of detail. She's gonna be OK," said Peraza.

Alonzo Gonzalez was last seen leaving the area of 3700 block of West Marland in a maroon Chevy Cobalt with a New Mexico license plate of 426-SCK..

"I just hope he's found so my sister can feel better because that's what's scaring her. That he'll come back," said Peraza.

Authorities tell NewsWest 9, Gonzalez's vehicle was located by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. However, Gonzalez remains on the run.

If you have any information on this investigation, or on the whereabouts of Gonzalez, call the Hobbs Police Department at 575-397-9275 or Lea County Crime Stoppers at 575-393-8005.
