Man Arrested For Evading Arrest, Giving False Name

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One man is behind bars following an incident on Monday evening in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, officers saw a silver Hyundai Sonata run a red light at Grandview and Oakwood at a high rate of speed.

According the report, the officers activated their emergency lights and siren and the vehicle continued to evade officers and turned westbound on 16th Street then southbound on Shafter at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle later crashed into a parked vehicle near Shafter and Bonham. The impact caused the parked vehicle to crash into a home where an 18-year-old sustained minor injuries from debris in the home.

Police say the driver got out of the vehicle and began to run from officers but was later caught in the 1400 block of Grandview and was taken into custody.

The suspect gave officers a false name and officers also found the driver, Thurman Williams, 45, to be in possession of cocaine.

Williams has been charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine, false identification-fugitive from justice and for four outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
