WINKLER COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Early Sunday morning, tragedy struck friends and family of 21-year-old Rudy Garcia.
Garcia died in an accident in Winkler County off Highway 18. His truck rolled over in a ditch and he was not wearing his seatbelt.
Those who knew Rudy remember his love for fixing up trucks.
"They washed their trucks like three times a week," said a family member.
Rudy was part of a brotherhood of friends who share the same love for these kids of trucks.
"If you don't own one, you'll never understand." That's on the back of one of Rudy's shirts that his family wears in his memory.
"It was not just always about him. It was everybody else before him...He had three nephews, two nephews and a niece. They were his eyes," said a family member.
Services will be held for Rudy on Thursday in Kermit at the Family Services Funeral Parlor so friends can say their final goodbyes.
But those who love him wish to do one better. They want to pay for him to be sent back home to his mom and dad in Phoenix, Arizona.
"We miss you and it will never be the same. It's gonna be very different that you're no longer here with us," said a friend of Rudy.
"He's not really gone. He's still with us," says another friend.
Friends will host car washes to raise money to send Rudy back home. They will be outside of Rimco on Andrews Highway for the rest of the week.
