NEW DETAILS: One Killed in Hobbs Accident

HOBBS, NM (KWES) - One woman is dead following an afternoon accident in Hobbs on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident happened in the 2200 block of West County Road just before 2:15 p.m.

Hobbs Police tell NewsWest 9, a Ford pickup driven by Robert Striegler, 24, of Odessa, Texas, was traveling north on West County Road when a Lexus traveling southbound, driven by Yadira Morales, 23, drove into the northbound lane of traffic.

That's when the two vehicles collided in the inside lane.

Morales was pronounced dead at the scene and Striegler was taken to Lea Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and say that speed was a factor in the accident.
