ECTOR COUNTY - A man accused of sexually abusing a child is free after a third attempt to put him behind bars.

Wednesday, Jose Luis Vasquez was found not guilty of of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.

Vasquez was first indicted back in 2009.

He was found guilty and sentenced to 50 years in prison in 2010.

Then in 2013, the Court of Appeals reversed and remanded the case.

A second trial was set a year later, but then a mistrial was declared a day later.

Finally a third trial was set on Tuesday, and a non-guilty verdict was returned the following day.

Ector County District Attorney Bobby Bland says "This was a difficult case and it was unfortunate that the victim was forced to testify so many times.

While we respect and understand the most recent verdict, for our victims sake we wish that the original verdict would not have been reversed.”
