ODESSA - The City of Odessa earned a top spot in the 4th annual “National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation.”
Residents recently pledged to reduce their water use by more than 7.3 million gallons during the next year.
That's enough water to fill 11 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
The pledges were made back in April.
People in Odessa joined residents from more than 3,900 cities for the campaign.
The city placed 9th in the challenge.
Some of the other winning areas include San Diego and Aurora, Colorado.
Odessans have also pledged to reduce their use of plastic water bottles by over 22,000 bottles.
