MIDLAND - If you live in Midland and your water smells like chlorine, don't panic.
Starting June 1, the city will be performing routine maintenance on their water distribution system.
Chloramine, a mix of chlorine and ammonia, is what's usually used to clean public water supplies.
But for the next 30 days, only chlorine will be used.
This may cause the water to have a chlorine smell like water in a swimming pool.
There may also be a slight discoloration in the water.
There's no need to worry as the water is still safe to cook with, drink and bathe in it.
However, if you want to remove the chlorine, just add a little bit of lemon juice to the water and that will reduce the chlorine levels.
