ODESSA – Two people are behind bars following an attempted forgery.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to Chase Bank in the 3800 block of East 42nd Street in reference to a forgery on Wednesday.

When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with two people, Jody McLean 29, and Rhonda Markham, 54.

According to the report, Chase Bank employees reported that both McLean and Markham attempted to withdraw money from a debit card account that didn't belong to them and that the account had already been placed on hold by the owner of the account.

We're told the owner of the debit card account previously had their vehicle broken into in the 9100 block of Bedford on May 22 and that her ID card was stolen along with some checks.

Officials say Markham was found to be in possession of the victim's ID card.

McLean and Markham both face charges of forgery of a financial instrument, which is a state jail felony.
