ODESSA - Police are trying to track down a gunman after a homicide Tuesday night in Odessa. Residents in the area are shocked that such a violent crime would happen on their streets.

"I cant believe it happened in our neighborhood. It's never happened before. It's a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood," said a neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous.

Isai Salvatierra is wanted on first degree murder charges. Officials said he shot 24-year-old Josh Chavarria in the alley off of Del Rio Street.

"I heard some arguing some rumbling and fighting and someone kept yelling you need to leave," the neighbor said.

Chavarria was taken to Medical Center Hospital by a private vehicle and that's where he died.

"This the fourth homicide of the year so far and just one is too many," said Steve LeSueur, with the Odessa Police Department.

Police are still trying to hunt down Salvatierra and they're asking for the public's help.

"Our main concern right now is just locating the subject. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. At this time, we're just asking for the public's help in locating Salvatierra," said LeSueur.

As for the usually quiet neighborhood, they're still shocked about what happened on Tuesday night.

"It was a murder! Yeah, that's scary," said another neighbor.
