Recent Felony Arrests by the Odessa Police Department - May 26, 2015

62-year-old Daniel Wayne Thornton

Odessa Police arrested Thornton on 5-22-15 at approximately 1100 hours for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child – Parole Violation (Warrant) "1st Degree Felony". While in the 700 block of McDonald, officers observed a male subject matching the description of a wanted felon.

The suspect was identified as Thornton. Dispatch advised Thornton had a felony parole violation warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Thornton was charged and arrested accordingly.

37-year-old John Cris Montez

Odessa Police arrested Montez on 5-22-15 at approximately 1850 hours for Possession of Cocaine "State Jail Felony" and for Theft of Property (Warrant) "Class B Misdemeanor". Officers observed a green Ford F-150 traveling in the 400 block of East Odessa with an expired registration.

A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Montez. While making contact with Montez, they observed him holding a white rock like substance in his right hand. The substance tested positive for cocaine. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered more cocaine.

Dispatch advised Montez also had an outstanding theft of property warrant out of Ector County. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Montez was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

40-year-old Kalynn Homfeld

Odessa Police arrested Homfeld on 5-24-15 at approximately 1556 hours for Theft of Property, a State Jail Felony. Officers responded to 1350 East 8th Street (Albertsons) in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Albertsons personnel, who advised they observed a female subject place several items inside of her purse and exit the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.

Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Homfeld. All of the items, valued at approximately $17, were returned to Albertsons. Investigation revealed that Homfeld had multiple prior convictions for theft of property, enhancing the charge to a state jail felony. Homfeld was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

29-year-old Ashley Dixon

Odessa Police arrested Dixon on 5-24-15 at approximately 0020 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers observed a gold Cadillac Deville traveling in the 1100 block of West 33rd Street with an expired license plate. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Dixon.

Officers observed crack cocaine that had been smashed and crumbled on top of the driver's seat. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Dixon was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

19-year-old Eliazar Alvarado

Odessa Police arrested Alvarado on 5-25-15 at approximately 1243 hours for Tampering with Physical Evidence "3rd Degree Felony" and Possession of Marijuana "Class B Misdemeanor". Officers observed a red Nissan Sentra traveling 56 mph in a 40 mph zone, in the 2200 block of Rocky Lane.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Alvarado. While making contact with Alvarado, they observed him place something into his mouth and then reach underneath the seat. Officers could also smell marijuana coming from the suspect's breath.

Officers instructed Alvarado to open his mouth and they observed a green leafy substance inside the suspect's mouth. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered marijuana between the seats. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Alvarado was charged and arrested accordingly.

31-year-old Jacob Francisco Skinner

Odessa Police arrested Skinner on 5-25-15 at approximately 2346 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers responded to the 1700 block of Doran in reference to a subject with a knife. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a subject sitting inside of a truck, identified as Skinner.

Officers searched Skinner and discovered a knife in his front right pocket. Officers also discovered cocaine inside his inner front right pocket. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Skinner was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.

47-year-old Rose Freeman

Odessa Police arrested Freeman on 5-23-15 at approximately 0810 hours for Evading Arrest or Detention – Failure to Appear (Warrant) "3rd Degree Felony" and for six outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Officers observed a gray 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis traveling in the 900 block of East Murphy with an expired license plate.

A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the front passenger was identified as Freeman. Investigation revealed Freeman had seven outstanding warrants, including a felony warrant for evading – failure to appear. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Freeman was charged and arrested accordingly.
