ODESSA – One man is behind bars after being caught stealing some merchandise from an Odessa store.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the Walmart on JBS Parkway in reference to a theft.
When officers arrived, Walmart employees told police they saw a male subject conceal wireless speakers in their jacket and exit the store without making any attempt to pay for them.
According to the report, officers watched surveillance video of the man concealing the speakers in his jacket.
The suspect was later identified as Miguel Figueroa-Medina, 21.
An investigation revealed that Figueroa-Medina had an outstanding warrant for theft and was later arrested.
While at the jail, an Ector County deputy saw Figueroa-Medina conceal a bag of cocaine in his mouth and attempt to swallow it while he was changing in the shower.
Figueroa-Medina has been charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility, theft of property and theft of property (warrant).
