BIG SPRING – One man is behind bars after Big Spring Police and the Howard County Sheriff's Office executed a narcotics search warrant.
According to a press release sent to NewsWest 9, the warrant was served at the Scottish Inn Motel early Wednesday morning.
Officials say John Manuel Solis, 29, was a convicted felon, known to carry firearms and has gang affiliations.
When officials approached the room, a distraction device was deployed and SWAT began to gain entry into the room.
That's when shots were fired between Solis and the SWAT team.
We're told that the SWAT team member only fired one shot and Solis was immediately taken into custody.
Solis sustained a minor injury which was a result of taking him into custody and not from the shot fired. Solis was treated by officials.
Solis has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
Solis is currently behind bars at the Howard County Detention Center and we're told additional charged will be filed at a later date.
The Texas Rangers are continuing to investigate the case.
