MIDLAND - A woman in Monahans spotted a disturbing conversation on Facebook. It alleged that a Sonic employee tampered with a drink at a Sonic Drive-In in Midland.

She was so worried, she called Midland Police.

It all started with a screen shot of a conversation shared on Facebook. It alleged an employee at the Sonic Drive-In off Midkiff tampered with a drink.

Now the company says this franchise has launched an investigation and an employee has already been suspended.

Screenshots of the conversation are making their way around the internet. In it, an alleged Sonic Drive-In employee states she tampered with a drink.

We called the Sonic Drive-In off Midkiff in Midland Friday morning and spoke to a manager who said they were interviewing every employee on that shift to find out what happened.

In a statement, Sonic Drive-In says,

"We have seen the social media post in question and are doing everything in our

power to obtain all the facts as quickly as possible. The franchisee who owns and

operates the drive-in is fully investigating the alleged incident with the support of

SONIC, and has suspended the employee in question pending the results of the

investigation.

Food tampering is something SONIC and its franchisees take very seriously. SONIC

has a zero-tolerance policy. Under appropriate circumstances, food tampering can be

charged as a felony. We will continue to provide updates as we gather more

information."

If evidence is found that an employee tampered with food, they could face a felony charge of aggravated assault. If convicted, that person could get two to 20 years behind bars.

The Midland Police Department obtained these screenshots and says they are also looking into this incident, but they say they can't launch an investigation unless a witness comes forward.
