MIDLAND - A woman in Monahans spotted a disturbing conversation on Facebook. It alleged that a Sonic employee tampered with a drink at a Sonic Drive-In in Midland.
She was so worried, she called Midland Police.
It all started with a screen shot of a conversation shared on Facebook. It alleged an employee at the Sonic Drive-In off Midkiff tampered with a drink.
Now the company says this franchise has launched an investigation and an employee has already been suspended.
Screenshots of the conversation are making their way around the internet. In it, an alleged Sonic Drive-In employee states she tampered with a drink.
We called the Sonic Drive-In off Midkiff in Midland Friday morning and spoke to a manager who said they were interviewing every employee on that shift to find out what happened.
In a statement, Sonic Drive-In says,
"We have seen the social media post in question and are doing everything in our
power to obtain all the facts as quickly as possible. The franchisee who owns and
operates the drive-in is fully investigating the alleged incident with the support of
SONIC, and has suspended the employee in question pending the results of the

has a zero-tolerance policy. Under appropriate circumstances, food tampering can be

If evidence is found that an employee tampered with food, they could face a felony charge of aggravated assault. If convicted, that person could get two to 20 years behind bars.
