CBP Officers Arrest Wanted Odessa Suspect in Presidio

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Press Release

PRESIDIO - U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations officers working at the Presidio port of entry arrested a U.S. citizen wanted for aggravated sexual assault of a child. The arrest warrant originated out of Odessa, Texas. The Odessa police department had requested the public's assistance in locating the wanted man via local media on May 6th.

“Criminals will sometimes try to blend in with legal travelers at the port, “said John Deputy, CBP Presidio Port Director. “The vigilance of CBP officers working at the Presidio port of entry identified and removed a possible child predator off the streets of America.”

The wanted man, identified as 74-year-old Elizardo Rivera, made entry as a pedestrian at approximately 5 a.m. Tuesday. System checks of the man's U.S. passport led to the discovery of his arrest warrant.

CBP officers arrested the man and turned him over to local police for extradition to Odessa, Texas.

While anti-terrorism is the primary mission of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the inspection process at the ports of entry associated with this mission results in impressive numbers of enforcement actions in all categories.
