BIG SPRING - Big Spring City Council Tuesday approved the sale and consumption of alcohol at the Mi Familia Pavilion at Bert Andres Park through the same permitting process as other certain city facilities. The vote was unanimous, Councilman Raul Benavides absent.

Tuesday's meeting began with the canvassing of the recent May 9 election. District 2 incumbent Carmen Harbour was the only contested race, and the election results were approved by council. After special recognition of outgoing councilmen Bobby McDonald and Marvin Boyd, who both decided to not run for another term, two new members who ran unopposed were welcomed: District 4 - Steve Waggoner, and District 6- Jim DePauw. Waggoner, DePauw and Harbour were sworn in by Municipal Court Judge Tim Green.
