ODESSA/MIDLAND - It's a special week for law enforcement agencies.

This week marks National Police Memorial Week.

It's all to recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. Law Enforcement that were killed in the line of the duty.

Odessa Police will hold a service on Friday morning at the department to honor those officers.

Over in Midland, police kicked the week off with an annual bicycle memorial ride to honor fallen officers in Texas.

They rode 19 miles to remember 16 law enforcement officers who were killed between last May and April of this year.

Their annual memorial service is scheduled for Thursday morning on the Claydesta Atrium.

The Honor Guard will also be traveling to the nation's capital this week to honor Deputy Mike Naylor, who was killed last October.

Sergeant Naylor's name will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
