Recent Felony Arrests by the Odessa Police Department - May 11, 2015

51-year-old Urah Larose Fuston

Odessa Police arrested Fuston on 5-8-15 at approximately 1619 hours for Forgery of a Financial Instrument Elderly – Going Off Bond (Warrant) "3rd Degree Felony", False Identification – Fugitive From Justice "Class A Misdemeanor", and for two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

Officers observed a red 1998 Dodge Ram traveling westbound in the wrong side of the road in the 1400 block of East 5th Street. The license plate of the listed vehicle was also determined to be expired. A traffic stop was conducted and the front passenger initially gave officers a false name.

Investigation revealed that the passenger's real name was Urah Fuston. Further investigation revealed that Fuston had three outstanding warrants, including a felony forgery warrant out of Jack County. Fuston was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.

31-year-old Ivan Tafoya

Odessa Police arrested Tafoya on 5-8-15 at approximately 1920 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers observed a white Ford F-350 traveling in the area of 2nd and Grant while displaying an expired registration of 01/14. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Tafoya.

Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered a bag of cocaine inside Tafoya's wallet. Officers also located cocaine near the center console. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Tafoya was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.

22-year-old Jacob Michael Aguilar

Odessa Police arrested Aguilar on 5-9-15 at approximately 2030 hours for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Warrant) "2nd Degree Felony", Possession of a Controlled Substance (Warrant) "State Jail Felony", Possession of Marijuana (Warrant) "Class B Misdemeanor", and Possession of Marijuana (Warrant) "Class B Misdemeanor".

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a black 2013 Hyundai Elantra for having an expired registration. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Aguilar. Dispatch advised Aguilar had four outstanding warrants, including two felony warrants. Aguilar was charged and arrested accordingly.

52-year-old Mark Alan Gillen

Odessa Police arrested Gillen on 5-8-15 at approximately 0833 hours for Tampering with Physical Evidence "3rd Degree Felony" and Possession of Methamphetamine "State Jail Felony". Officers observed a white 2007 Chevrolet Impala traveling near 5th and Hillcrest with an expired registration. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Gillen.

As officers approached the listed vehicle, they observed Gillen drop an item onto the roadway. Officers located the item which was a bag of methamphetamine. Officers also located a metal pipe in plain view between the driver's seat and driver's door. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Gillen was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.

31-year-old Rafael Antonio Ponce

Odessa Police arrested Ponce on 5-10-15 at approximately 2027 hours for Possession of Cocaine "State Jail Felony" and for four outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a black 2010 Chevrolet Silverado for running a stop sign at Grant and Olive.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Ponce. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered cocaine on the floorboard. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Ponce was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.

18-year-old Angelo Rodriguez

Odessa Police arrested Rodriguez on 5-10-15 at approximately 0017 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers observed a maroon Mazda RX6 traveling near Andrews and 31st with no headlights on. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the back right passenger was identified as Rodriguez.

Officers observed a small plastic bag with a burned edge in plain view where Rodriguez had been sitting. Officers also discovered a bag of cocaine inside of his wallet. Rodriguez was also found to be in possession of two more bags of cocaine that were concealed on his person. Rodriguez was charged and arrested accordingly.

53-year-old Tony Roschell James

Odessa Police arrested James on 5-9-15 at approximately 2009 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers responded to the 400 block of East 51st Street in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Dispatch advised that there were subjects smoking narcotics inside of a black Chevrolet truck that was parked in front of a residence.

Upon arrival, officers observed a black 1998 Chevrolet Silverado parked in the 400 block of East 51st Street. Officers made contact with a male subject sitting in the front passenger seat, identified as James. Officers observed a metal pipe in his left hand that contained a white rock-like substance.

The white rock-like substance tested positive for cocaine. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, James was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. The pipe and cocaine were tagged as evidence.
