Man Arrested Following Shoplifting Call in Odessa

ODESSA – One man is behind bars following a shoplifting call over the weekend in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the Walmart on Northwest Loop 338 Saturday afternoon in reference to a shoplifter.

When officers arrived on the scene, Walmart employees told police that they saw a male subject, later identified as Jerred Williams, 27, concealing items inside of a tool bag and then take those items to the customer service department and try to return them without a receipt.

According to the report, Williams was given a gift card in the amount of approximately $48.

An investigation revealed that Williams removed several price tag from inexpensive items and place the tags on more expensive items. The items consisted of clothing, jewelry and hardware items.

Williams is facing charges of theft of property, fraudulent destruction, removal, or concealment of writing on top of a warrant for abandoning or endangering a child.
