MIDLAND - A man is accused of trying to suffocate a pregnant family member in Midland.

Police say Jaime Jarquin got into an argument with the woman.

The report says she told officers that he grabbed a pillow and pressed it against her face several times.

She screamed and told Jarquin to stop but he refused.

The woman was able to get away and grab a knife.

The report says Jarquin rushed her and was stabbed with the knife she was holding.

However, Jarquin told officers a different story.

The report says he claims the woman wanted to commit suicide and that she had grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the stomach on purpose.

When police arrested Jarquin, they say he couldn't keep his balance and that they smelled alcohol on him.
