ODESSA - Students and teachers at Murry Fly Elementary are safe after the school was put under a shelter in place earlier today.

Fly students were brought inside the school as Ector County Sheriff's Office officials in the area chased a man on foot.

Ector County ISD hasn't confirmed if the man was caught, but the shelter was lifted before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A "shelter in place" is a precaution in which all outside students are brought inside the school building, and the entrance is locked and monitored.
