ODESSA – An Odessa man is accused of using a fake name after trying to steal groceries from an Odessa HEB Store.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the 3800 block of East 42nd Street in reference to a shoplifter.
When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with HEB employees who reported that a male subject leave the store with a cart full of groceries without making any attempt to pay for them.
Officers made contact with the man, who gave a false name and date of birth to officers.
An investigation later revealed the suspect's name was Paul Allen, 44.
Further investigation revealed that Allen had four warrants out for his arrest along with multiple prior convictions for theft.
Allen has been charged with theft of property with prior convictions, false information – fugitive from justice and for four outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
