MIDLAND COUNTY – One man is dead and two others were injured in a weekend accident in Midland County early Sunday morning.
The accident happened on the south service road of Interstate 20 approximately two miles east of Midland.
DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2010 GMC Sierra was traveling west on the south service road of Interstate 20 when the vehicle collided head on with a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado.
The driver of the Silverado, 37-year-old Jason Wayne Pope, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC Sierra, 18-year-old Andrew Dylan Chestnut, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
A passenger in the GMC Sierra, 19-year-old Mitchell Ryan Johnson, was also taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
According to the report, Pope wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
