LOVING COUNTY – A New Mexico man is dead following an accident involving a Wink-Loving ISD School bus.

The accident happened on State Highway 302, about 13 miles east of Mentone on Friday morning.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2012 Ford F-150 was passing several vehicles in a no passing zone when the school bus, with 13 people on the bus, approached the truck.

The truck attempted to re-enter the drive lane after passing and struck the school bus.

The collision caused the truck to spin counter clockwise and began to overturn. The school bus traveled into a barrow ditch and hit a barbed wire fence.

The driver of the pickup truck, 21-year-old Edgar Munoz of Belen, New Mexico, was killed in the accident.

The driver of the school bus, 64-year-old Oscar Valeriano, was taken to Winkler County Hospital.

Wink-Loving ISD sent a press release to NewsWest 9 earlier today stating that all the children were safe and checked out by emergency personnel.
