ODESSA – Odessa Police are sending out a warning to residents about a male subject impersonating a police officer.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, several victims have reported that a male subject has been attempting to conduct traffic stops in a white Explorer or Expedition with red and blue flashing lights.

Officials say the suspect appears to be targeting females who are alone. The suspect is not in uniform and does not present a badge.

According to the report, the incidents have been occurring in the area of 42nd & Grandview, 8th & Grandview, and 10th and Dixie. The incidents have been occurring during both nighttime and daytime hours.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 6' tall, 170 pounds wearing plain clothes with a thick accent.

Odessa Police are asking anyone who has been a victim to come forward and file a police report.

Citizens who have concerns that may be a target of this subject are encouraged to immediately call 911. OPD also encourages citizens if there is any doubt to stop in a well-lit and populated area.

The Odessa Police Department is also asking anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the suspect to report it to the Odessa Police or Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.
