ODESSA – One man is facing assault charges following an incident in Odessa on Saturday.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the 2700 block of North Hancock in reference to a disturbance.
When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with a 33-year-old female who reported that after she had been in an argument with her common-law husband, he punched her in the head.
According to the report, the victim stated that she then went into another bedroom to avoid her common-law husband, later identified as 34-year-old David Horn, Jr.
However, police say Horn went into the room and began choking the woman by placing her hands around her throat.
The woman was able to grab a phone but Horn took it away and began hitting her in the head with it.
Horn has been arrested on charges of assault by strangulation (family violence).
