Emergency Crews Respond to Major Accident on I-20

MIDLAND - Emergency crews responded to a major accident on Interstate 20 on Monday night.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. around Mile Marker 149 east of Midland.

The Department of Public Safety says for some reason an SUV was driving eastbound on the shoulder.

It ran into the back of a semi, who was legally in the roadway.

The driver of the SUV, Christina Gonzales of Midland, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

A 7-year-old child and 11-month old baby were in the SUV.

They were not injured but taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

The semi driver was not hurt. The investigation is ongoing.
