ODESSA – A police chase ended following a collision on Saturday night in Odessa.

We're told it all started around 9 p.m. Saturday night when DPS Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop for a green Cadillac that was following too closely on Golder Avenue.

According to the report, the vehicle didn't stop and the chase ensued.

Officials say just before the end of the chase, the green Cadillac was traveling northbound on Clover when it didn't yield to traffic and struck a Toyota Tacoma that was traveling westbound on 52nd Street.

The collision caused the Toyota to roll and flip onto its side and the Cadillac spun out and came to a rest.

The driver then attempted to run from the scene of the crash on foot and hid in a backyard near the accident site.

The driver, 19-year-old Manuel Garcia-Carbajal, was later apprehended and taken into custody.

Three people inside of the Cadillac were taken to the hospital for injuries. 18-year-old Abigail Bustamante was taken to Medical Center Hospital along with a one year old child. Another child who was in the vehicle was taken to a hospital in Lubbock.

The driver of the Toyota Tacoma was released on the scene and wasn't taken to the hospital.

Garcia-Carbajal has been charged with evading arrest detention with vehicle, fail to stop and render aid – serious bodily injury and two counts of abandon endanger child – criminal negligence.
