CRANE COUNTY – A trailer fire in Crane County forced a portion of Highway 385 to be closed on Thursday afternoon.
The fire happened on U.S. Highway 385 approximately five miles south of Crane on Thursday afternoon.
DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2015 GMC C3500 hauling a trailer was traveling southbound on Highway 385 when the driver stated that there was a blowout on the trailer.
The vehicle pulled over and the trailer caught fire causing containers the trailer was hauling to melt and ignite.
That caused the product in the containers to be released onto the roadway, barrow ditch and onto a private drive.
Crane Volunteers firefighters extinguished the fire and secured the scene.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported and the highway was reopened around 10 p.m. Thursday night.
