Odessa Police Department Press Release
29-year-old John Anderson
Odessa Police arrested Anderson on 4-9-15 at approximately 0205 hours for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More, a 3rd Degree Felony. Officers observed a white 2004 Toyota traveling eastbound on 8th Street run a red light at Grant, nearly striking another vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Anderson.
While making contact with Anderson, officers could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Anderson was placed into custody for driving while intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests. Dispatch advised Anderson had three prior convictions for driving while intoxicated. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Anderson was charged and arrested accordingly.
42-year-old Allen Pigg
Odessa Police arrested Pigg on 4-8-15 at approximately 0110 hours for Possession of Cocaine “3rd Degree Felony”, Tampering with Physical Evidence “3rd Degree Felony”, and for two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. While patrolling the 1400 block of East 2nd Street, officers observed possible narcotic activity at the Sahara Motel.
Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect but he began to walk in the opposite direction. Officers then observed the suspect throw what appeared to be a cigarette box approximately 10 feet from where he was standing. The suspect, identified as Pigg was immediately detained.
Officers then retrieved the cigarette box, which contained a bag of cocaine. The cocaine weighed approximately 1.53 grams. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Pigg was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.
40-year-old Martin Chau
Odessa Police arrested Chau on 4-7-15 at approximately 2112 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers observed a white 1993 Lincoln Mark run a stop sign at Monahans and Woodlawn. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Chau. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered cocaine on the floor near the driver's seat. Chau was charged and arrested accordingly.
23-year-old Justin Mendoza and 19-year-old Jorge Tavarez
Odessa Police arrested Mendoza on 4-9-15 at approximately 0344 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers observed a red Ford Fusion traveling southbound in the 1600 block of South Grant without lights when required. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the driver was identified as Mendoza and the passenger as Tavarez.
Officers could smell marijuana coming from the driver's window. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered cocaine on the front passenger seat, front passenger floor, and right passenger floorboard. Officers also searched Mendoza and discovered more cocaine on him. Both subjects were charged and arrested accordingly.
