New Mexico Man Killed in Rollover Accident

PRESIDIO COUNTY – A New Mexico man is dead following a rollover accident in Presidio County.

The accident happened on Wednesday morning on Highway 67, about 10 miles north of Presidio.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 1994 Honda Passport SUV was traveling northbound on Highway 67 when one of the tires on the vehicle had a blowout.

That's when the vehicle left the roadway, the driver overcorrected, went into a side skid and overturned.

According to the report, the driver, 42-year-old Gilberto Mendoza, Jr. of Mcintosh, New Mexico, was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
