Two Men Arrested Following Short Chase in Odessa

ODESSA – Two men were arrested following a short chase in Odessa on Friday morning.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, two officers working off-duty at Fast Eddies saw a maroon Chevrolet Silverado driving recklessly through the parking lot of Fast Eddies.

According to the report, the driver of the vehicle stopped and made eye contact with the off-duty officer and the off-duty officer told the driver to stop and park the vehicle.

Police the driver ignored all commands and sped out of the parking lot traveling westbound on 42nd Street.

After a short chase, the driver eventually stopped in the parking lot of Michaels.

The driver and passenger of the truck both began to run from the officer. The driver, 24-year-old Jesse Navarette, was caught and detained.

The passenger, 26-year-old Michael Duran, was later found when he attempted to hide underneath another parked vehicle in the parking lot. He was taken into custody for public intoxication.

When officers later searched Duran, they found cocaine inside his pockets. Duran also had four outstanding warrants.

Navarrette has been charged with evading in a motor vehicle and Duran has been arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, public intoxication and for the four misdemeanor warrants.
