MIDLAND - Thursday was the first of several meetings to get public input on the new hotel in downtown Midland.
The City of Midland has approved the terms with developers for the new Hotel Santa Rita.
The hotel will be built where the old courthouse now sits.
The city says they want the project to be done locally.
“The project is designed by a local architect and financed with local money, local guys, so we're real excited about that aspect. They've done a really good job of paying respect to the history of downtown to the history of Midland. They've incorporated the history of those things into their design. It should be a really great project for downtown,” said Spencer Robnett, City Councilman at Large.
Two more meetings will be held at Midland City Hall.
Those meeting are being held on Monday, April 6 at 11:30 a.m. and Thursday, April 9 at 5:30.
